The North Central Texas Meat Goat Association was started in 2004 as a small group of
local meat goat producers in North Central Texas.  Our focus is on meat goats and the
education of their owners.  We also strive to promote meat goat activities through the
youth of our area.  In addition, we desire to educate the public about the qualities and
benefits of meat goats as a source of nutrition.

We are an active group of goat producers.  Monthly meetings are held the second
Tuesday of every month in Stephenville, TX, at the Erath County Dairy Sale, on Hwy.
377/67 South.  Our meetings start at 7:00 PM.  We attempt to have an educational
speaker at each meeting.  In an effort to educate goat producers, we hold a annual
educational seminar in May.  Our speakers this past May included John Edwards
(EGGS), Jack Mauldin, and Dr. Wesley Bissett of Texas A&M University College of
Veterinary Medicine.

At present we have in excess of 60 member families.  Annual dues are $25.00 per family.
Junior memberships are also available to those 18 years of age and younger for $10.00
per year.  Five percent of all dues go to our scholarship fund.  We always are happy to
welcome new members .  Our members hail from Comanche,  Eastland, Erath, Hamilton,
Hood, Jack, Johnson, Palo Pinto, and Parker counties.  However, our membership does
not require specific counties of residence.

Each year we try to hold two sales for members' goats.  Show wethers sell on Labor Day
as part of the Hamilton (Hamilton, TX) Commission Company sale.  Our breeding stock
sale has been held in the fall.  We are still in the planning stages for this year's sale.
Please watch this site for more details as they become available.

We invite you to join us for one of our monthly meetings.  If you have any questions, feel
free to contact me via email.
